Attorney Lester Rosen, founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of global background check provider Employment Screening Resources® (ESR), will present a live webinar titled “The Legal Use of Social Media, Credit Reports, Driving Records, and International Screening in Hiring” produced by Aurora Training Advantage on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
Employers and recruiters have discovered a treasure trove of information on potential job applicants online. However, the unrestricted use of social media and search engines in the hiring process can be risky. This webinar will examine the pros and cons of utilizing social media, including what is available online, discrimination issues, the use of legal off-duty conduct, privacy, accuracy, and authenticity.
Rosen – author of “The Safe Hiring Manual” – will teach attendees the strategies for getting the information they may need while minimizing potential dangers. The webinar will also give a broad overview of a number of additional background screening tools as well, including credit reports, driving records, drug testing, and international background checks. This webinar will help attendees:
- Learn how employers, human resources, and recruiters are using search engines and social network sites to source and screen candidates.
- Review what social media sites are available and understand the risks of using these sites.
- Learn how discrimination laws and rules concerning off-duty conduct apply.
- Uncover best practices for all stakeholders: Employers, HR, recruiters, and the job applicant.
- Be introduced to other important tools, such as credit reports, driving records, drug tests, and international background checks.
The webinar is approved for 1.5 recertification credit hours toward general recertification through the HR Certification Institute (HRCI). Aurora Training Advantage is recognized by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) and the webinar is valid for 1.5 PDCs for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.
